Grape Up is a consulting and technology company helping enterprises build mission-critical applications by leveraging AI, cloud-native technologies, and modern software delivery practices. We’re looking for an experienced engineer to join a senior, dedicated team providing production support and evolution for a major automotive OEM’s connected-vehicle platform – a portfolio of web applications and microservices covering telematics, subscriptions, payments, and remote services. You’ll resolve real production issues, then use what you learn to make the platform measurably better: refactoring, breaking down legacy monolithic pieces, modernizing the stack, and raising the bar on observability and automation.

What to expect from this role We work in a shifted schedule (10:00–18:00), which allows the team to better align with global client time zones and ensure solid coverage for production operations. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable with, or prefers this setup. This role also involves occasional business travel, including an upcoming project kick-off at the client’s site in the USA.

Responsibilities Own the full incident lifecycle for live production services – triage, resolve, and run root-cause analysis on high-severity (P1/P2) incidents so they don’t come back Write permanent fixes, hotfixes and patches in a modern Java 21 / Spring codebase, not just workarounds Identify and drive technical improvements, harden reliability and performance Level up observability and automation: add the missing logs, metrics and traces, build self-healing and alert-noise reduction, and automate the toil out of operations Handle system lifecycle work – framework/library upgrades, security patching, vulnerability remediation, End-of-Life monitoring Take part in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical incidents (additionally compensated) Requirements 3+ years of experience building and/or supporting backend applications on the JVM, with strong Java and Spring Experience operating microservices and web applications in production, including troubleshooting live issues Working knowledge of AWS and CI/CD pipelines Hands-on experience with observability tooling (logs, metrics, traces) and production monitoring Solid Git skills and understanding of security-and-compliance practices Excellent command of English and Polish (all communication, reports and documentation are in English) Analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills Comfort with a shifted work schedule (10:00–18:00) and openness to occasional international business travel Nice to have Experience supporting automotive OEM or connected-vehicle platforms Familiarity with application servers such as Tomcat Experience in production-support / on-call / SRE-style roles and incident management Familiarity with ServiceNow, JIRA and Confluence in an operational context Comfortable working across the stack – primarily Java/Spring backend, with some React Native mobile support Experience with certificate/secrets management and disaster-recovery testing Benefits Non-corporate work environment among experienced engineers Individual growth & development plan supported by cyclical feedback sessions Access to knowledge platforms (e.g. Pluralsight) Equipment of your choice Financing of conferences, external trainings, and certifications Language lessons (English, German and Polish for foreigners) LuxMed private medical care Weekly Lunch & Learn where we meet up in the office, lunch together, and share our knowledge Employee referral program Rewards for the success of the month and year awarded by our employees Special rewards for your years with us (G-Man) Integration activities
