The Role: AI Engineer (Java/Python)

📍 Location: Lisbon🏢

🏠 Work Model: 2 days a week onsite - Lisbon

💰🏦 Sector: Financial Services

🗣️ Languages: English (B2 - C1)

✅ Eligibility: Currently living in Portugal and be legally authorized to work there

We’re looking for an AI Engineer to join a cutting-edge team building next-generation AI platforms and agent-based solutions. If you enjoy working at the intersection of AI, backend engineering, and scalable architectures, this could be a great fit.You’ll play a key role in designing and developing components that enable AI agent interactions, MCP server capabilities, and enterprise-grade integrations, all while ensuring secure and scalable access to data and services.

✅ What we’re looking for

• Strong experience with Python and/or Java (FastAPI / Spring Boot)
• Solid background in building backend APIs and distributed systems
• Good understanding of REST APIs, async processing, and event-driven design
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in cloud-native environments
• Familiarity with:
• MCP servers / AI agents
• RAG architectures
• Vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate)
• LLM integrations (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or similar)
• Experience with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving skills and a product-oriented mindset
• Team player with effective communication skills

💡 What you’ll be doing

• Build and evolve MCP servers and AI platform services
• Create seamless integrations between AI agents and enterprise systems
• Design and implement modular APIs and service orchestration layers
• Develop tool connectors and structured automation frameworks
• Deliver RAG-based solutions for retrieval and context management
• Develop scalable backend services using Python and/or Java
• Work with event-driven and asynchronous architectures (Kafka)
• Integrate LLMs and AI services into real-world business workflows
• Manage vector databases, embeddings, and retrieval pipelines
• Apply modern engineering best practices: CI/CD, automated testing, observability, trunk-based development
