Data Engineer (DBT Core)

We are looking for a Data Engineer for a hybrid project based in Porto or Lisbon (2x/week)

Requirements:

• 3–4 years of experience in Data Engineering or a related role.
• Hands-on experience with DBT Core, including CLI-based development and version control.
• Experience building and maintaining data pipelines.
• Strong SQL skills and experience working with analytical databases or data warehouses.
• Intermediate knowledge of data modeling concepts (e.g. star schema, medallion architecture).
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts applied to data pipelines
• Experience with Python for data processing and/or orchestration tasks.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is nice to have.
• Hands-on experience with Dataiku is nice to have.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken).

Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, and optimize data pipelines from source systems to analytics-ready datasets.
• Develop and maintain data transformations using dbt Core, following best practices (models, tests, documentation, and macros).
• Implement and manage data ingestion workflows using dbt and python data pipelines.
• Contribute to data modeling activities (staging, intermediate, and data mart layers).
• Ensure data quality and reliability by implementing tests and monitoring data pipelines.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures and performance issues.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineers, BI teams, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving data engineering standards.
