As part of our strategic growth, we are seeking a Junior Structural Engineer who will work as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to bring water and wastewater infrastructure projects from concept stage through to construction.
In this role you will work to develop engineering design solutions to meet the Client's needs following these through to the construction stage to ensure the successful outcome of the project.
The main duties and responsibilities of this role are outlined as follows:
Develops civil/structural engineering drawings for different structures using Autodesk Revit / AutoCAD.
Prepares civil/structural specifications.
Assists in designing structural calculations determining building dead, live, wind and snow loads.
Assists in structural modelling using Autodesk Robot and Trimble Tekla.
Assists in structural design reporting.
Assists in site visits and inspection reports under supervision.
Ensures all work is compliant with Eurocodes including Irish and British standards as well as water/wastewater industry standards.
Ensure Health, Safety, Environmental & Sustainability standards, policies and procedures are developed into the proposed designs.
Ensure Designs are developed and delivered in line with Irish Construction Regulations and the UK CDM Regulations 2015.
Support the BIM and digital delivery strategy through collaborative model development and coordination.
Coordinate structural inputs across multiple design packages in tandem with civil, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines.
Manage the tracking of deliverables by logging activities and communicating effectively daily with the structural engineering team.
Ensure timely delivery of design outputs to meet program and budget requirements.
Complete design solution within set budget and when possible, generate efficiencies against same.Work as part of a team in the delivery of one or more projects at any one time, embracing the ethos of a "one team" culture.
Team & Stakeholder Collaboration
Keeps a weekly log of activities to report to a senior structural engineer.
Contributes to determining the best solution that offers value for money.
Liaise with other disciplines and understand the interfaces within a project.
Contribute as required to events such as Bid Clarifications, Kick-off meetings, HIRAs, Design Reviews.
Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and client representatives to ensure smooth project execution.
Proficiency in communicating in English and Portuguese.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
The main knowledge, skills and experience required of the role are outlined as follows:
Bachelors/MSc Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Minimum of 2 years' experience, preferably in the Water & Wastewater sector.
Experience with designing tools preferable Autodesk Revit.
In depth knowledge of reinforced concrete, structural steel and foundation design.
Proficiency in structural analysis software.
Temporary works design experience is desirable, but not essential.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English.
Excellent planning, organizational, training, teamwork, problem resolution and presentation skills.
Excellent literacy, numeric and IT skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
Full Clean European driving license.
