I began working at 18, alongside my university studies, and over the past two decades have built a cross-sector career in executive and leadership roles spanning technology, strategy, business transformation and civil society.
Since late 2021, I have served as Executive Director and co-founder of Instituto Mais Liberdade, an independent Portuguese think tank and civil society organisation that I helped launch and build in its earliest and most challenging stage. Since then, I have led its growth, strategy, positioning and development, helping establish it as a high-impact voice in Portuguese public debate, with a strong focus on public policy, and on strengthening economic, political and financial literacy.
Previously, I worked at McKinsey & Company as a strategy consultant, supporting organisations across sectors and countries on complex strategic challenges. Before that, I held leadership roles at Sonae MC and The Navigator Company, working across business development, business analysis and transformational projects in demanding corporate environments.
Earlier in my career, I also co-founded a technology startup and carried out research at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST, University of Lisbon). I hold both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the same university, graduating with a final grade of 18/20, with specialisation in Artificial Intelligence and Enterprise Information Systems. My master’s thesis in Artificial Intelligence was awarded IST’s distinction for the best thesis of the year in Information Systems.
I later complemented my academic background with executive education at NOVA SBE and Católica Lisbon School of Business & Economics.
I am the co-author of three books — "Milhões a Voar" (4.5⭐ Goodreads), "Portugal em 50 Factos" (4.8⭐ Goodreads) and "Trancas à Porta" (4.5⭐ Goodreads) — and have also contributed to other publications and studies on financial literacy, taxation, housing and economic policy. In addition, I have published more than 250 articles in general-interest and business newspapers, focused mainly on political and economic issues.
My main areas of interest include leadership, transformation, public policy, communication, education, economic and financial literacy, tax competitiveness, and institution-building.
