Ali Said

I’m a Computer Engineering graduate from Qatar University with a strong interest in robotics, embedded systems, reinforcement learning, and computer vision. During my degree, I maintained a 3.93/4.00 GPA, joined the Qatar University Honors Program, and was named to the Dean’s List for eight consecutive terms.

My main technical focus is building intelligent systems that connect software, hardware, and real-world interaction. For my senior design project, ITA’AM, I worked on an autonomous assistive-feeding robot using ROS 2, computer vision, reinforcement learning, and SO-101 robotic hardware. The project won 1st Place in the Prototype Track at the CENG Capstone Competition.

I have experience with Python, C/C++, Java, MATLAB, Linux, Git, ROS 2, OpenCV, MediaPipe, Arduino, and simulation tools such as PyBullet. I’ve also worked on projects involving highway reinforcement learning, secure Linux-based remote access systems, and programmable drone control with wireless laser-hit detection.

Beyond technical work, I have served as a Peer Advisor and Peer Tutor at Qatar University, supporting students in engineering courses, programming, operating systems, circuits, probability, statistics, and other subjects. I also gained high-pressure support experience during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at the Hayya Resolution Centers.

I’m especially interested in robotics, embedded systems, AI, and hardware-focused engineering, and I’m looking to keep developing practical systems that combine intelligent decision-making with real-world physical applications.
