Currently working I am on Short term assignment as Senior Finance in IOM Doha, responsible and accountable for maintaining the financial functions including:
- Providing procedural guidance to managers and staff; supervision, guidance and training other finance support staff
- Managing financial resources through monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, funds and supplies in accordance with IOM rules and regulations
- Providing specialized advice and support to Project Managers and Chief of Mission
- Preparation of budget, accounting, financial, statistical reports
In February - April 2021 I was on short term assignment as Regional Finance Specialist in IOM Regional Office Pretoria, responsible and accountable for maintaining the financial functions including:
- Reviewed financial entries posted in SAP for Namibia and Lesotho missions to ensure completeness, accuracy and compliance to donor approved budgets, FMRP and related policies.
- Ensured timely review of monthly accounting returns for both missions and submitted to RAS.
- Supported timely and accurate payroll processing and recording of USRAP income for smaller missions in the region.
- Reviewed missions’ sustainability reports and provided technical advice to missions in overall projects financial monitoring.
- Reviewed TEC settlements for RO staff ensuring compliance to the travel policy.
- Monitored the implementation of internal controls and compliance in smaller missions in accordance with delegation of matrices and other compliance tools to prevent fraud and mismanagement
From 2016 to date I hold Finance and Administration Assistant position, heading the Resource Management Unit in the IOM Lesotho country office and supervising three staff in the following functions
- Leading RMU in financial management and budget monitoring of more that USD 3.2 Million for missions’ projects from the following donors among others- ECHO, IDF, US Department of State, CERF, FCDO, Government of Japan, Kingdom of Netherlands, Global Fund and MPTF in line with FMRP for both IOM and its Implementing Partners.
- Ensuring overall compliance of the mission, overseeing and coordinating procurement function, in line with procurement policy, reviewing financial data of the mission in SAP and participating in internal audits.
- Improving efficiency in billing from vendors to ensure timely processing of payments and clearing of vendor accounts.
- Forecasting and managing the mission’s monthly liquidity requirements.
- Providing technical support to Programs staff in project development in line with project handbook and ensuring adherence to donor requirements and preparing donor financial reports
- Providing support in Human Resources Management functions; supervising and training junior Resources Management staff in ensuring compliance with the organization’s internal controls, guidelines and policies.
- Leading cascade trainings in the mission: PRIMA, PR online, Vendor Management System, OIPA and Travel Application
- Lead the UN Operations Management Team as chairperson to successful transition, implementation annual review of Business Operations Strategy (BOS) of UN Lesotho
From 2015-2016 was a Finance and Administration Office in GROW, heading Unit and supervising four staff in the following functions
- Timely posting of all financial data in Pastel accounting system in line with guiding policies of the organization.
- Successfully supporting proposal development and prepared financial reports to management and donors
- Enhanced fleet management methods to reduce motor vehicle running expense
From 2013-2015 was an Accountant for Premium Logistics Pty Ltd, supervising four staff in the following functions
- Pioneering migration from manual to computerized financial system and timely posted all financial data in QuickBooks system.
- Timely completion of tax returns and remitted to the revenue authority.
- Administration of payroll and pay as you earn tax.
