Device Management (CPE – Customer Premises Equipment) is an important activity inside Orange, handling the lifecycle of our devices deployed in the end user / customer premises.

Our team – HomeLAN – builds, maintains and operates a software solution that is managing all types of devices, implementing global industrial standards. We are managing around 11 million devices – Internet gateways, Wifi range extenders and STBs for 12 business units.

The project team is fully hosted in Romania, in Orange Services. A part of the team is dedicated to analytics / big data operations – data collection and storage, processing the data and providing operational and business dashboards, per business unit.

As the amount of data is increasing following the trend of devices and the increased number of requests related to data, the Analytics team is challenged to deliver and to optimize the overall data processing.

The technology stack currently used contains Spark, Kafka, NoSQL databases, NiFi, Grafana, without being limited to those, it can evolve in order to meet the needs.

• *What you’ll be doing**

As a Data Engineer inside the Analytics team you will collaborate with the team to build / evolve the Analytics part in order deliver processed data – visual dashboards, report files, etc.

An important part of the work will be to write the data processing scripts, orchestrate and organize them to produce the results required.

• *Responsibilities
• Acquire, ingest, and process data from multiple sources and systems inside the Analytics platform
• Design and implement data engineering processes leveraging ETL tools, spark jobs and SQL based data transformation, processing both structured and unstructured data
• Align with customer development teams regarding the interfaces and solutions defined
• Performance testing for the implemented solutions
• Apply and maintaining Information Security standards, internal and industry best practices
• Maintain technical skills and knowledge, keeping up to date with technology trends, collaborate and share with the technical community
• *What you’ll need to know/have
• Good experience of working with large data sets (preferably telecom data)
• Good understanding of SQL in the context of data warehouse solutions - experience in developing in SQL
• Experienced in ETL process design and data flows optimization
• Previous experience in usage of ETL
• Highly experienced in Python (pySpark)
• Java, SQL scripting would be a significant plus
• Experience with Apache products like Spark, Kafka
• Good knowledge of Spark in context of streaming as well as in batch processing context
• Experience with workflows in big data platforms
• Databases knowledge (incl. NoSQL databases); experienced working with both structured and unstructured data
• Business Intelligence reporting: Grafana or other tools for data visualization communication
• Basic knowledge on using Linux systems (system and network parameters)
• 3 years of experience in development, service integration, acceptance of applications and systems
• Working language(s): excellent English, French will be a plus.

• Experience in tuning complex DWH/BI (based on SQL-PL/SQL) environments as far as data volumes
• Experience in software architecture
• Bash scripting
• Previous software development; packaging and versioning of software applications
• Experience with automation deployment tools (Chef, Ansible, etc)
• Experience with Oozie, Airflow
• Basic Network concepts: switching, load balancing, routing, firewalls, IPs, DNS
