Java Development Engineer

Role Details: Full-time Java Backend Engineer in the Payments Wizards team, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining payment services within the Home’Bank platform. Involved in building new features, enhancing existing functionalities, and ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions using Java, Spring, and Kafka, within an Agile environment.

Way of Working: hybrid - 1 day / week; 4 days / month

Our Technology Stack: Java 17, Spring (MVC, Boot, Core), Hibernate, Kafka, Rest & Soap, OpenShift

Required candidate profile (behaviour & soft skills):

Strong Java backend development experience, with solid knowledge of Spring ecosystem and REST/SOAP services. Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems, and familiarity with microservices architecture. Good understanding of OOP principles, testing practices, and Agile methodologies, combined with strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

About the team The Payments Wizards team is a cross-functional Agile squad within the Digital Tribe, bringing together backend and frontend engineers, QA specialists, analysts, and product stakeholders. The team fosters a collaborative, open culture where ideas are encouraged and ownership is shared across all roles.

Working in a Spotify-inspired model, the team emphasizes continuous improvement, fast feedback loops, and close alignment between business and technology. Your day to day o Design, develop, and maintain backend services for payment processing within the Home’Bank platform;

o Implement new features and enhance existing functionalities using Java and Spring ecosystem;

o Build and integrate REST and SOAP services across internal systems;

o Collaborate closely with QA, analysts, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions;

o Write clean, testable code and perform unit and integration testing;

o Contribute to system design decisions and ensure scalability and reliability;

o Work with Kafka for event-driven communication and messaging;

o Participate in Agile ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives);

o Continuously improve code quality, performance, and deployment processes in a cloud-native (OpenShift) environment;

What you bring to the team o Strong experience in Java backend development;

o Good knowledge of Spring (Core / Boot / MVC);

o Understanding of RESTful and SOAP services;

o Experience with messaging systems (preferably Kafka);

o Familiarity with microservices and scalable system design;

o Experience with testing (unit, integration) and clean coding practices;

o Comfortable working in Agile teams;

o Good communication skills and team-oriented mindset;
