About The Role

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our engineering team and help shape how authors worldwide submit research for groundbreaking scientific discoveries. This is a mid-level role focused on skills and attitude rather than years of experience. If you have relevant skills but limited formal experience, showcase your projects and apply.

Microservices architecture (HTTP, JMS)

Monitoring via Kibana and Dynatrace

Responsibilities

Architect, design, develop, and maintain key systems and features

Collaborate with QA and Scrum teams to deliver high-quality releases on time

Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and follow best practices

Deploy microservices in staging and production environments

Build and maintain microservices that power our platform

Troubleshoot issues in test and production environments

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Strong fundamentals in Java

Hands-on experience with Spring Boot

Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Helm, or similar)

Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred, others acceptable)

Practical experience with Kubernetes and Docker

Familiarity with writing unit tests (JUnit, Mockito)

Experience building RESTful APIs and web services

Knowledge of JMS and Kafka

Familiarity with Git and Linux

Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and relational databases

Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a dynamic team environment

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with PostgreSQL

Experience with GitHub Actions, Docker, or AWS Cloud

Knowledge of monitoring tools like Dynatrace or New Relic

Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology
