Technical Program Manager – Data & Analytics
About the Role
We are looking for a Technical Program Manager – Data & Analytics to drive data reliability, governance, and program execution within a complex technology environment.
In this role, you will ensure that critical data products, reporting tools, and data pipelines remain reliable, properly monitored, and fit for business use. You will provide visibility into data health, coordinate the investigation and resolution of technical issues, and ensure that priorities are translated into clearly defined actions and delivered on time.
Working closely with Data Engineering, Finance Operations, Product, Security, and other cross-functional stakeholders, you will establish structured processes for incident management, data governance, prioritization, and delivery tracking.
This is a technical program management role that requires a strong understanding of data platforms, software environments, and technical dependencies. The focus is on coordination, governance, visibility, and delivery rather than hands-on data engineering or software development.
Key Responsibilities
Data Health, Monitoring & Incident Management
- Monitor the health of critical datasets, reporting tools, dashboards, and data pipelines to identify potential issues, inconsistencies, and service disruptions.
- Provide clear visibility into data quality, system dependencies, and operational risks, ensuring issues are identified and escalated promptly.
- Coordinate technical investigations and remediation activities with engineering teams and relevant system owners.
- Communicate incidents, data reliability concerns, and resolution updates through appropriate channels, including Microsoft Teams.
- Manage incidents throughout their lifecycle, from initial identification and impact assessment to resolution, root cause analysis, and closure.
- Ensure unreliable or inaccurate data is clearly flagged and communicated to stakeholders to prevent decisions based on untrusted information.
Data Governance & Reliability
- Maintain governance standards covering data ownership, lineage, metric definitions, quality controls, refresh expectations, and escalation procedures.
- Track dependencies between source systems, data pipelines, reporting platforms, and downstream business processes.
- Maintain visibility into automated, monitored, and manual data processes, identifying opportunities to improve reliability and reduce operational risks.
- Support the certification and documentation of trusted datasets and reporting definitions used across business intelligence and analytics tools.
- Coordinate with technical owners to ensure recurring data issues are addressed and corrective actions are implemented.
Technical Program & Delivery Management
- Manage the intake, prioritization, and tracking of Data & Analytics initiatives, translating business requirements into structured plans and actionable backlogs.
- Maintain clear ownership, timelines, dependencies, milestones, and delivery status using project management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Coordinate prioritization discussions with Finance Operations, Product, Engineering, Security, and other stakeholders.
- Track technical tickets, blockers, risks, and dependencies, ensuring that issues are assigned to the appropriate owners and followed through to resolution.
- Drive accountability across teams, proactively escalating delivery risks, capacity constraints, and missed commitments.
- Establish consistent reporting and governance routines, including operational health reviews, progress updates, prioritization meetings, and executive summaries.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve cross-functional collaboration, and reduce manual processes and dependency on individual contributors.
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in Technical Program Management, Technical Project Management, Data Operations, Data Governance, Data Quality, or a comparable role.
- Strong technical mindset and the ability to understand software environments, data flows, system dependencies, and technical issues.
- Working knowledge of SQL, data pipelines, data warehouses, business intelligence, reporting platforms, and cloud-based data environments.
- Experience coordinating technical incidents, managing tickets, monitoring operational health, and driving issues through to resolution.
- Familiarity with project and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with Power BI, cloud data services, ETL/ELT processes, or platforms such as AWS Glue and Amazon Redshift is an advantage.
- Exposure to enterprise business applications such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Salesforce is beneficial.
- Strong stakeholder management, organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues and operational risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to drive accountability and coordinate multiple teams without direct reporting authority.
What Success Looks Like
- Critical data products and reporting tools are monitored, documented, and supported by clear ownership and escalation procedures.
- Data quality issues and technical incidents are identified, communicated, and resolved in a structured and timely manner.
- Stakeholders have consistent visibility into priorities, delivery progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Technical initiatives are supported by clear ownership, realistic timelines, and effective follow-up.
- Manual processes and recurring data reliability issues are reduced through continuous improvement and stronger operational governance.
Interested?
If you combine strong technical understanding with structured program management and enjoy bringing clarity, accountability, and reliability to complex data environments, we would be happy to hear from you.
