Descrierea postului

We believe in bold ideas, diverse perspectives, and the drive to transform knowledge into impact. Here, your curiosity fuels progress, your voice shapes innovation, and your ambition helps redefine what’s possible within science and learning. We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer as a member of our engineering team to help us develop our flagship product, Phenom. This person should be passionate about software development, with an engineering mindset, with excellent knowledge of computer science concepts and proven experience & expertise with (micro)services and web application development, regardless of the languages or frameworks used.

We're a JavaScript shop (Node, Express, NestJS, React, GraphQL) and most of our colleagues are what's known in the industry as the T-Shaped developers. They are well-versed in the backend or front-end and dangerous enough in the other areas to be able to get the job done. But it's not a hard requirement from day 1 for you.

It's OK if you have experience only in backend or front-end development if you are open to learning and working on the other areas. We as a company are committed to helping you learn what's needed to get the job done with ease.

How You Will Make An Impact

You'll work in a Scrum team responsible for delivering one or more Phenom components (i.e. Review, Screening, Invoicing, Reporting, Syndication).

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Delivering solid and maintainable software through good processes
  • Taking ownership over a whole component/product/project's lifecycle, including being involved in the design phase and performing operational tasks such as deployments and monitoring.
  • Mentoring the teams, being a technical role model, and being able to popularize, defend, and reevaluate technical decisions.
  • Work with the product team to define requirements, identify risks, and draft technical solutions.
  • Collaborating with other teams on system-wide parts like platform tooling, common libraries, integrations, etc.
  • Shaping the technical organization by being a go-to person for technical decisions that affect multiple teams.
  • Being a technical ambassador for Wiley.

What We Look For

  • Excellent knowledge of computer science concepts and proven experience & expertise with (micro)services and web application development, regardless of the languages or frameworks used.
  • Take ownership over the whole component/product/project's lifecycle, including being involved in the design phase and performing operational tasks such as deployments and monitoring.
  • Work with the product team to define requirements, identify risks, and draft technical solutions.
  • In addition to technical chops, we aim for someone used to working in a team, who is ecstatic about sharing their knowledge, teaching and mentoring their peers, and understanding the value in others being heard.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and technologies. We use JavaScript frameworks like (Node, Express, NestJS, React, GraphQL, Typescript, and AWS). Most of our colleagues are what's known in the industry as T-Shaped developers.

They are well-versed on either the backend or frontend and knowledgeable enough on the other areas to be able to get the job done. Being full-stack is not a requirement from day one but we as a company are committed to helping you learn what's needed to get the job done with ease.

  • No computer science degree mandates. That's not what we're looking for. We care about what you can do and how you do it, not about how you got here. A strong track record of conscientious, thoughtful work speaks volumes.

We power infinite possibilities.

For more than 200 years, we've transformed knowledge into discoveries that shape the world. Today, our global team of innovators, creators, and experts is driving what's next in science, education, and publishing—creating impact that reaches everywhere.

We're not just observers of progress. We're the ones accelerating scientific breakthroughs, advancing learning, and sparking innovation that redefines entire fields and improves lives.

Here, your talent matters. Your ideas have room to grow. And your work creates breakthroughs that can change everything.
