Senior Python Software Engineer (Java)

About The Role In this role, you will contribute to the modernization and evolution of business-critical systems, helping to shape scalable and sustainable technology solutions that support long-term organizational goals. Working closely with technical stakeholders, you will transform legacy workflows and data models into cloud-native solutions while supporting knowledge retention, service continuity, and long-term sustainability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain senior-level Python solutions, including REST APIs and integrations with automated workflows
• Modernize complex workflows and data structures to improve long-term system sustainability
• Collaborate with technical stakeholders to support modernization initiatives and ensure seamless integration with existing systems
• Develop and integrate solutions using relational databases, particularly DB2 and SQL, following established database integration patterns
• Deliver enterprise-grade applications using modern cloud and container technologies
• Contribute to the analysis and maintenance of legacy implementations using Java, KornShell, and, where applicable, Cobol
• Implement capabilities for test data preparation, data masking, synthetic data generation, and related data engineering activities
• Document technical decisions, implementation details, and operational procedures to support knowledge sharing and service continuity

Requirements

• Extensive experience developing enterprise applications using Python development, including REST API development and workflow integration
• Strong experience with relational databases, particularly DB2, SQL, and database integration patterns
• Proven experience with cloud-native development, containerized deployments, and production-grade services
• Practical knowledge of Java and KornShell; knowledge of Cobol is considered an advantage
• Demonstrated skills to analyze and modernize legacy systems, workflows, and data structures
• Hands-on experience implementing data engineering solutions, including test data preparation, data masking, or synthetic data generation
• Proficiency in producing clear technical documentation covering design decisions, implementation details, and operational procedures
• Effective organizational and communication skills
• Mastery in supporting capacity planning, effort estimation, onboarding, knowledge retention, and continuity of service while adapting to changing workloads and delivery priorities
