Roles and responsibilities

As the Cloud Platform Lead Engineer, you will be instrumental in migrating our e-commerce platform from AWS to GCP. Beyond this critical project, you will drive strategic initiatives to optimize our cloud infrastructure, ensuring it remains resilient, cost-effective, and scalable. This role requires deep GCP expertise, hands-on leadership, and the ability to mentor a team with strong AWS backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Migration Leadership: Play a leading role in the migration of our e-commerce platform from AWS to GCP, ensuring a seamless and efficient transition.
• Platform Strategy: Define and implement cloud platform strategies that align with business goals, driving innovation and efficiency.
• Architecture Advisory: Provide expert guidance on platform architecture and setup, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability on GCP.
• Mentorship: Mentor and support engineers new to GCP, helping them transition their AWS skills to the new platform.
• Best Practices: Identify and implement industry best practices for cloud infrastructure, including application/microservice deployment on GCP.
• Technical Leadership: Conduct hands-on work as needed, resolving complex technical issues and supporting the engineering team.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud solutions.
• Cost Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance and cost-effectiveness of our GCP infrastructure.
• Innovation Advocacy: Stay up-to-date with the latest GCP services and features, advocating for their adoption where beneficial.

Desired candidate profile

• Experience: Extensive experience with GCP, including hands-on work with Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and other key services.
• Certifications: GCP certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Data Engineer, or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
• Migration Expertise: Proven experience leading cloud migration projects, especially from AWS to GCP.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, Bash), and experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform).
• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of mentoring and guiding engineers effectively.
• Agile Practices: Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and DevOps practices.

• E-commerce Experience: Background in the e-commerce sector or similar high-traffic, high-availability environments.
