Software Engineer

Company Description:

Netzero is a Saudi climate-tech company based in Khobar. We build the technology behind large-scale tree planting and ecosystem restoration.

Restoration at scale runs on software. Field teams need tools that hold up in the desert. Operations and customers need products that make complicated projects simple to run and easy to understand. That is what we are building, and we want someone to build it with us.

Who we are looking for:

We hire for agency above everything else.

The person we want does not wait to be assigned work. They use the product, notice what is broken, fix it, then tell us what else they found. They read about something new on Saturday and have a prototype by Tuesday.

When they learn something worth knowing, the whole team knows it by Friday.

Titles matter less to us than impact. Junior or senior counts for less than how fast you move and how deeply you think. Problems here belong to whoever sees them, not to a team or a ticket.

What you will work on:

• Own features end to end: scope, design, build, ship, then keep improving them in production.
• Build customer-facing products that make environmental impact clear and engaging.
• Build and maintain backend services: APIs, auth, payments, notifications, background jobs, internal workflows.
• Build mobile experiences that work for people in real field conditions.
• Turn requests from non-technical stakeholders into product and technical decisions you can defend.
• Fix production issues at the root cause, not the symptom.
• Improve tooling, tests, observability, and CI/CD so the whole team ships faster.

Our stack:

Frontend: TypeScript, React, Vite, TanStack Router/Start, TanStack Query, Tailwind CSS, Zustand

Backend: TypeScript, Node.js, Bun, Express, PostgreSQL, Drizzle ORM

Mobile: TypeScript, React Native, Expo Router, TanStack Query, Zustand, Unistyles

What we want to see:

• Strong fundamentals and a track record of shipping.
• Frontend and backend experience. Mobile is a strong advantage.
• Something significant you built, rebuilt, or rescued, and can walk us through in detail.
• Improvements you shipped that nobody asked for.
• Comfort with problems that are not fully defined yet.
• Strong architectural opinions, backed by judgment and real evidence.
• You use AI tools to move faster and try more approaches without dropping the quality bar. Move fast, do not ship slop.

Location and work style:
