Teachers who love teaching, teach children to love learning. My main strengths include reliability, flexibility, hardworking, highly motivated and goal driven. I can work as part of a team as well as on my own in a highly pressured time driven environment.
I am keen to develop my career even more as well as become an asset to my employer. To date, I have worked hard towards my academic education and my teaching career, which I believe reflects my determination to reach the goals I have set for myself. I grew up in various parts of the world, as my father was a wing commander in the Airforce which gave me an opportunity to learn from a variety of teachers.
This vast experience of learning has allowed me to integrate these practices into my teaching methodology on a day to day basis. Since 2001, I have had the opportunity to teach professionally, after formally qualifying as a secondary school teacher in Pakistan. I taught English Literature and Language for two years before immigrating for marriage to London in 2004.
Following a short what you might call a 'honeymoon' period, I embarked on teaching at various schools for short and long terms in and around the South East of London through many teaching agencies. I taught in many of the local Secondary, Grammar, State, Private schools and later in a range of different Primary schools. In 2006, I became a mother for the first time and then I taught off and on over the next years between having my other three children.
In 2012 whilst I was seven months pregnant with my fourth child, I was accepted to join Oxford House School to complete the University of Cambridge CELTA certification. After completing this qualification, I felt invigorated with advanced teaching techniques and practices as well as a sense of being able to overcome any obstacle personally or professionally through all the trials and tribulations I had to deal with during the training, and made the decision to focus my teaching more in the Primary sector. I believe I'm a reflective practitioner, who values the opinions of those with more experience and the discussions that arise on a daily basis with my peers.
No matter which year I teach, I believe the key to children making progress is Assessment for Learning, enabling me to provide all pupils within my care with Quality First Teaching. Assessing pupils' learning is essential in ensuring they make progress and build on their continued knowledge and understanding. Conversing with parents is something I ensure at the end of every day which I feel it is essential for parents to be well informed about their child's progress and learning needs, so we are working within a team collaboratively.
As I have worked in many diverse schools and within my own class also have a very diverse and differentiated learning background, I have felt it has been very important to provide the additional support required to those children that require further support (concrete, pictorial or abstract).
