I am a fully qualified and experienced physics teacher with over 20 years of experience in the UK and Overseas schools having taught successfully to the UK and International Curricula.
Currently on a contract as a physics teacher at British International School in Riyadh with responsibility for teaching AQA GCSE and A Level physics to 11-18 year-olds with special focus on astrophysics, engineering physics, particle physics and quantum mechanics among others.
I was previously a physics lecturer at Leicester College in England teaching classical mechanics, thermal physics, material science, quantum mechanics and medical physics among others to level 3 BTEC students.
Prior to that, I had completed a fixed term contract as an IB Physics and BTEC level 3 applied science teacher in London, sequel to a 2-year teaching contract in an International British Grammar School in Saudi Arabia where I had taught Cambridge A Level physics along with Cambridge and EDEXCEL’s IGCSE physics.
Having once served as a Head of science for four years in an inner-London challenging school managing a team of seven, I had also coordinated the delivery of vocational BTEC courses as Quality nominee for the entire school.
Currently enrolled on a part-time Master’s in Education on ‘Learning and Teaching’ with the UK Open University, I have been exposed to an interesting range of modern teaching methodologies with relevant educational theories and research to back them up.
In my current role in Riyadh, I have been privileged to attend a great number of CPDs covering a wide range of modern concepts and approaches aimed at improving teaching and learning.
With a degree in Mechanical Engineering since 1989, I am also a proud graduate of King’s College London with a PGCE in Physics with a QTS since 2004. Prior to qualifying in 2004, I had spent some years teaching physics and maths in Nigeria as a young graduate.
I will describe myself as a focused and dedicated classroom practitioner who not only enjoys physics but is also passionate about inspiring students to be independent problem solvers, critical thinkers and become the best that they can be. I utilise digital pedagogy along with participatory learning theory to promote high order thinking and encourage cognitive conflicts as a pathway to concept development among learners. Having been an examiner with EDEXCEL, I am in a position to help to coach students with the right examination techniques that would ultimately lead to outstanding outcomes.
Finally, I am a team worker who not only enjoys collaborative planning within the curriculum team, but will gladly work with the team’s final decision with a view to achieving the school’s ultimate goals and enhancing learners’ progress.
