James Kleinhans

I am a vibrant and enthusiastic Mathematics educator who has taught for over 20 years in various places around the world: South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, and most recently in Saudi Arabia. As a teacher, I keep activities, real life application, and student engagement at the heart of my math classes. I teach with energy and enthusiasm, getting students involved, engaged, collaborating, discussing, and sharing answers.

I believe very strongly in reciprocal teaching, and therefore often ask students to join me in co-teaching a lesson, explaining concepts and the application thereof, or working out mathematical problems for one another. For many years in South Africa, I served as a teacher trainer, giving demo lessons, and holding workshops to demonstrate teaching strategies and pedagogical approaches to improve classroom practices and student learning outcomes. I am also a certified Life Coach and give talks to encourage people to change their lives by changing their mindset, thinking positively, and believing in themselves.

I have 20+ years international experience as an upper primary, middle, and high school Mathematics teacher. My most recent 5 years of teaching have been in Saudi Arabia, before which I taught in the UAE, the UK, and South Africa. I have also served as a teacher trainer in South Africa, conducting demo lessons and workshops to improve teachers' pedagogical practices. I have also been a business owner. Recently I have been giving motivational talks to encourage people to adopt a positive mindset.

In addition to studying Auditing & Accounting, History, African languages, and receiving Master's degree, Honour's degree and a Higher Diploma in Education, most recently I was awarded a Cambridge International Certificate in Education Leadership. Prior to that I received a 120-hour TEFL certificate as well.
