SQL Server Database Specialist

Job Summary

We are looking for a seasoned SQL Server Database Specialist with hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server environments. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in T-SQL scripting, stored procedure development, and advanced performance tuning, ensuring high-performing, reliable, and optimized database solutions.

Mandatory Skill-set

• Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent;
• Must have 4 – 7 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server;
• Expertise in T-SQL scripting and stored procedure development, with a focus on writing efficient, optimized code;
• Strong knowledge of query optimization, index design, and execution plan analysis;
• Proficient in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning;
• Experience with partitioning strategies and managing large-scale datasets;
• Deep understanding of locking, blocking, and deadlock detection and resolution;
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Desired Skill-set

• Experience with Java/J2EE development;
• Hands-on with Apache Spark and big data;
• Background in ETL pipelines or distributed data systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize complex T-SQL scripts and stored procedures;
• Perform query optimization and index tuning to ensure high performance and scalability;
• Analyse SQL Server execution plans to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks;
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot issues proactively, and implement best practices for reliability and availability;
• Develop and implement partitioning strategies for large datasets;
• Analyze and resolve locking, blocking, and deadlock issues to maintain optimal concurrency;
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to support database design, deployment, and maintenance.
