Aldric Wong

I am a student studying physics in Nanyang Technological University and will be graduating this year in May 2023. I have been studying under the CN Yang scholarship program, which is a research-focused scholarship that provides students with various research opportunities in addition to the normal school curriculum. During my Bachelor's Degree, I have taken courses covering the full range of physics topics, including quantum physics, thermodynamics and electrodynamics, and statistical mechanics.

Over the course of my studies, I have participated in two research projects in two different labs, obtaining valuable research skills that I would be able to apply in the future. In the future, I also had the opportunity to carry out my final year thesis overseas, and participated in an astrophysics project in two renowned institutions in Spain and Germany.

During my studies, I have gained an interest in optics and photonics and would like to undertake job positions focused on the research and development in this laboratory. To move in this direction, I have enrolled in a quantum electronics course to learn about the physics of optics and photonics and have also volunteered to help out in a semiconductor laser lab to experience how research and laboratory work is carried out in this field. I hope that this efforts will prepare me to fulfill responsibilities in job roles in this field.
