I have worked as a helping professional for over a decade, but now I feel it's time to pursue my passion that I've had since my younger days. Thanks to regular exercise, I am still fit and healthy. If given the chance, I am confident that I can meet all the requirements of the job.
I was initially trained in nursing and served in the military and government hospital exposing to all kind of nursing needs and environment.
I have been working at Before & After School Care Centre for the past 14 years managing children from 7 to 14 years old leading to Supervisor at Daybreak Student Care Centre from 2006 to 2010.
In 2003, I embarked on a course in psychology offered by the James Cook University, Queensland, Australia, and was awarded a Bachelor of Psychology in 2006.
In 2009, I was awarded the Master of Social Science (Counselling & Psychotherapy). I started working in the Social Service in different settings managing cases range from marital, family, children & youth, parenting, elderly, mental health, and family violence.
During the time working in Nursing Home from 2018 to 2021, I enrolled in the Massive Open Online Course (MOCC) offered by the University of Tasmania and have obtained a certificate in Understanding Dementia in 2019 and Preventing Dementia in 2020. It has helped me understand the challenges both the patients and caregivers face.
As a social worker/counsellor, I see myself as a facilitator, with my client as the expert. I listen actively, accept them as who they are, and help them to see their inner strength and abilities. I believe in my clients’ motivation in self-improvement, and I empower them to seek authentic solutions within themselves with guidance.
