My name is Dr. Dena Bateh, and I have been working in higher education for over 16 years, a Department Chair of Undergraduate Business Programs as well as a faculty member, and doctoral chair. Before entering higher education, I worked in both Logistics (United Parcel Service) in their international division and then spent most of my career in the pharmaceutical industry with both Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi-Aventis.
I received my Ph.D. from Columbia University in International Economics and my MBA and BA in International Business and Marketing from Jacksonville University (in my hometown of Jacksonville).
My motivation and impetus for entering higher education occurred when I worked in the pharmaceutical industry, where I was educating healthcare professionals as a large part of my role. Thus, I transitioned into higher education much earlier than I expected, and it has truly been the best decision that I have made in my career.
Working with students, mentoring them, and bringing theory into practice are things that I enjoy, while also contributing to scholarship so that I stay abreast of current changes and updates within the area of international business and trade.
I was raised in Jacksonville, Florida, but I have resided in NYC for my entire adult life. I have a wonderful husband and two sons, one is in medical school, and the other completing his degree in mechanical engineering.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing the piano, long walks in the city, swimming, and cooking! Two fun facts about me is that I have traveled to over 51 countries and played piano on the stage of Carnegie Hall when I was 16.
