I’m a year 3 student in NUS majoring in life sciences with a second major in business management. I find the world of microbiology and immunology fascinating and want to work in a laboratory when I graduate. I would call myself somewhat of a global citizen as I have lived in 3 different countries thus far, 4 if you count my exchange semester in London.
One of my favourite activities is meeting new people and hearing their life stories. My personal motto is to give everything your 101% so that you won’t have regrets in knowing you’ve done your best.
I completed an Undergraduate Professional Internship Programme with a food manufacturing company last summer as a food technologist. I managed daily record keeping and training sessions for FSSC22K accreditation which resulted in 0 demerit points. I also researched methods to lengthen shelf-life and enhance taste and texture of various food products and successfully launched two product series into the market.
In addition, I liaised with suppliers to aid in day-to-day operations to find the most optimal and affordable solutions for shelf-life extension and created marketing content for online websites that increased web traffic by 10%.
I am currently pursuing my Bachelors degree in life sciences in NUS and I am specifically interested in immunology and microbiology where I studied the relevant modules to pick up laboratory skills such as aseptic technique. I am also studying business management as my second major where I learnt about marketing, business law and operations which I find are useful knowledge for when I join the workforce, regardless of the industry.
