Hilmi Sudirman

A recent graduate with a bachelor's Degree in Media, Culture and Communications at MDIS. I am very passionate to take my writing skills to the working world for either the entertainment or business industry. Although I have no relevant working experience in the media industry, I am willing to learn the ropes of what it takes to be a professional writer or journalist.

My past working experience is heavily based on communication as its main criterion. While currently studying full-time at my university, I am also taking up the French language as an additional skill and working odd jobs part-time to finance my day-to-day spending.

My past working experiences have been in service-related industries, in which I have worked with Gardens By The Bay for 4 years, and also as a Sales Assistant for 2 years. Communication has been my key aspect in the industries I have worked for, dealing with guests and clients.

Gardens By The Bay - Shuttle Captain(Part-time); Singapore September 2019 – May 2023

• Ensuring excellent customer service and providing knowledge of the attraction. I have managed to guide tourists from all over the world to get to their desired destination accurately, also having to communicate in their native language.

• Maintaining the professional image of the company when handling difficult situations; helped regain the composure of upset visitors from the suspension of our shuttle service by offering compensation or suggesting alternative solutions. I have also managed feedback from visitors by understanding their concerns and solving them in an instant, if certain situations are out of my reach then only I would bring them forward to my supervisors.

• Liaising with event coordinators for private or special events that require the shuttle service; worked independently when coordinators were engaged with multiple events by the familiarity and knowledge of their event list.

• Ferrying notable public figures and celebrities along the premises of Singapore’s iconic tourism site, received a token of appreciation from the United States House of Representatives from former US speaker Nancy Pelosi for chauffeuring her members of office during bad weather. 

• Managed to work under pressure together as a team when our superiors were occupied with other tasks; managed to keep the service running orderly while maintaining the cleanliness of our vehicle and, also ensuring all our stations were manned.

• Conducting our daily well-recognized Audio Tour; driving sightseers along Gardens By The Bay's most iconic landmarks whilst providing a safe and fruitful journey, handled transactions of ticket sales which amounted to over SGD 500 in sales within 3 hours.

• Run our all-year-round Shuttle Service from point to point; attest all vehicles are in optimal condition before operations start, and ensure the safety of our onboard guests. In certain cases, we must take the initiative to bring up or retire our vehicles when situations are busy or when our buses have certain issues without being told to do so.

• The ability to adapt to different situations daily; with ongoing events and activities throughout the gardens, I am able to identify which task to prioritize alongside our daily operations, in certain cases I would take a detour if our shuttle pathway is blocked, resulting in a frictionless experience for the visitors. 

Contrac-Image Trading PTE LTD – Sales Assistant (Part-time); Singapore December 2017 – April 2019

• Assisted projects from the sales team in both government and private sectors; handled clients’ requests to visualize certain ideations by creating a design mockup, which could further aid clients' proposals. Given the opportunity to produce an actual site mockup for the Singapore National Skin Centre.

• Good understanding of our product knowledge for the ASEAN market; I have supported the sales team when they are out of the office by attending their client's visits to our showroom. Offering over 29 different collections and unique installation methods, I have managed to narrow down their selection and generate feedback for the sales team.

• Worked alongside international architecture design companies like Gensler and DP Architects; run the delivery of our textiles samples routinely and updated product brochures. Impart product knowledge for our new collection to designers. Helps broaden their creative capabilities with the products we offer. 

• Meeting project deadlines with various clientele; facilitated the sales team with onsite measurements which gave clients an accurate estimation of the area. Completing a board mockup that requires a custom design that is not in our catalog, so as to match the overall clients' requests. 

• Work independently; routinely restock our showroom samples and product brochures, organizing our showroom inventory.
