My name is Jordan Tan, and I am a graduate student from National University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s Degree (Honors) in Applied Mathematics, specializing in data analytics and mathematical modeling. I have developed a deep interest in data modeling and machine learning during my studies as an undergraduate. I am looking for a role that allows me to learn and grow my data processing and analysis skills.

I have also had the opportunity to participate in research as part of Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institutes efforts to remotely monitor water quality of water bodies and develop a multispectral Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) system for on-demand industrial turbidity monitoring aided by drones. Although my involvement was small, I became more interested in remote sensing technology, especially after understanding how UAVs have an advantage over traditional remote sensing technologies such as satellites, and have since developed my geospatial analysis skills such as with GIS. I managed to pick up GIS quickly and am confident that I will be able to learn new technologies and skills quickly as well.

During my undergraduate studies, I have done personal projects with languages such as R (R Studios) and Python (Jupyter notebook) both individually and in teams. The modules I have taken allowed me to better understand regression analysis and data visualization, which is important in solution development and interpretation. I have also had the opportunity to touch on aspects of machine learning, specifically management of big, complex data and predictive analytics such as projection models.
I am not unfamiliar with dimension reduction, and classification and clustering of high dimensional data. I hope I have the opportunity to learn and grow my model development and data processing skills.
