Lookesh Paniselvam

I am a final year student at Singapore University of Social Sciences, majoring in Marketing with a Minor in Financial Technology. You might be wondering why a marketing student is applying for an analytics position.

Before starting university, I was not sure of the career path that I wanted to take. Yet, over the past few years during my academics and work experience, I realized I have an affinity and great interest in working with data. It started small by creating relatively simple number-crunching models with excel.

Working with data was fun for me. When my peers veered away from approaching the repository of data, I stepped up, to take the charge of looking at the information “mess” and create simple models using excel to convey useable insights. It was then, that I knew that this is something I wanted to do for my career.

To reach my career goal, I took up the initiative to learn various data analysis tools such as SQL (SQLite), Power BI and python during my free time using online resources and books. Attempting to learn these skills on top of my school curriculum and part-time job was not easy. However, my passion and determination to be in this field have driven me to push on and be the person I want to be.

Worked in a events-tech start up earlier in 2022 as their Marketing Channels Specialist.

Currently a final year student getting my Bachelor of Science in Marketing with Minor in Financial Technology in Singapore University of Social Sciences.
