I’m a UX designer with a background in advertising. I’m based in Singapore and I enjoy creating solutions or products that are useful and beneficial to people.

What I got out of advertising was a keen sense of research and insights. I learned to question my design decisions and have them tested against the insights of the target audience and objectives of campaigns. Research and insights should lead creative solutions.

My friends tell me that one of my biggest strengths is the ability to empathise and listen, I believe that my listening skills will be beneficial to my role in UX.

A year from now, I see myself creating useful products that improve the lives of users.

I've worked as an Art Director in Advertising for most of my professional Experience. I wish to transition into a UX Design Role and have undertaken steps to learn UX. I believe I have skills that are transferrable in UX such as:

1. Strong visual design skills: As an Art Director, you have experience creating visually compelling designs that communicate brand messages and tell stories. This skill can be applied to UX design by creating intuitive and visually pleasing interfaces that are easy for users to navigate and use.

2. Attention to detail: As an Art Director, you understand the importance of every element in a design and how it contributes to the overall experience. This attention to detail is crucial in UX design, where even small elements can have a big impact on usability and user satisfaction.

3. Collaboration and communication: As an Art Director, you have experience working with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, and stakeholders. This skill is also important in UX design, where you will need to collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other UX designers to create cohesive and effective designs.

4. Understanding of branding and messaging: As an Art Director, you have a deep understanding of how visual elements can communicate brand messages and values. This knowledge can be applied to UX design by creating designs that align with the overall branding and messaging of the product or service.

5. User-centered approach: As an Art Director, you understand the importance of creating designs that resonate with users and tell their stories. This user-centered approach is also important in UX design, where you will need to empathize with users and create designs that meet their needs and expectations.

As a Visual Communications & Media Design graduate, my education has equipped me with a strong foundation in design principles and visual storytelling. Throughout my studies, I have developed a diverse range of skills that are relevant to a variety of design-related fields, including:

Design Fundamentals: My education has provided me with a thorough understanding of design principles such as color theory, typography, composition, and layout. I have applied these principles to a variety of design projects, including print design, digital design, and motion graphics.

Visual Storytelling: I have developed skills in visual storytelling, including the ability to develop a narrative, use visual elements to convey meaning, and create compelling visual content. These skills have been honed through projects such as branding and advertising campaigns, editorial design, and web design.

Digital Design Tools: I have experience using industry-standard design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, and Figma. This knowledge allows me to create high-quality designs that are both functional and visually appealing.

Collaboration and Communication: Throughout my education, I have worked collaboratively with peers and clients to create designs that meet project objectives and requirements. I am skilled at communicating design concepts and ideas both visually and verbally, and I have experience presenting and defending my designs.

Overall, my education has provided me with a strong foundation in design theory and practice, as well as the technical skills necessary to create effective and visually compelling designs. I am excited to apply my education and skills to a professional UX Design role.
