My name is Deng Xinyue. I am writing to inquire if you are anticipating needing either a Landscape Designer soon. I graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Master of Landscape Architecture in 2019. I am currently a Project Engineer in the manufacturing industry. I am currently based in Singapore and willing to work my way up within your organization.
May you wonder why I work in different industries with a background in landscape architecture? There are some reasons below;
Understanding the client’s needs quickly. I had been working in a local landscape contractor firm for 1-year plus. I assisted the project manager or senior-level staff in developing a design strategy. Working as a landscape designer, I could understand the client’s requirements and visions for their projects.
On the other hand, I was working as a project coordinator, I liaised with external consultants and clients by providing advice, attending site meetings, tender interviews etc. At the same time, I liaised and coordinated internally with the project, engineering personnel etc., regarding the project matters. These allow me to work closely with other partner-facing teams to provide value-add services.
Experienced hard skills. I have been an intern in the Ong&Ong Pte Ltd in Singapore and Turenscape in Beijing, China for three months separately. I am actively engaging in the design field and professional opportunities internationally.
While these experiences have developed my strong design skills with various scales, theoretical knowledge, and technical skills such as 3D rendering software, ArcGIS and critical thinking, it has also given me local and international level exposure to the field of industry as well as the opportunity to learn from great minds and reflectively enhance myself.
With China-Chinese background, being bilingual and bicultural. This helps the company to pursue clients or projects that require having an in-depth understanding of the Chinese culture. Some local mentees may not have a strong appreciation of the Chinese culture in one of the projects and this where I could explain and value add with my knowledge and experience.
My exposure and experience have developed me into a highly creative, hands-on individual and team player eager to work and learn as a Planner. I believe my unique skill set can be of real value to providing and supporting this job position and help fuel its continued success for years to come.
