Sudhakar A Kulkarni

Over the past 28 years of design, design management, project management and teaching experience in India and Singapore, Dr. Sudhakar A. Kulkarni has undertaken Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) structures, Industrial projects, Pharma projects, and medium-rise buildings.

Currently he is associated with Napier MRT /North-South Corridor projects. Between 2013 & 2015, he managed the design works and construction support for Novartis-Bimorphs (Project: SG$ 1 billion), Singapore and Blast Mitigation projects, ExxonMobil Singapore. His design/ supervision /project management expertise include projects of precast structures, structures subjected to blast loads, MRT projects (underground/ above ground structures), industrial process plants, and cut and cover tunnels.

He involvement in MRT projects at Singapore include detailed design of NEL siding extension at Harbour Front Station, design reviews of Circle Line CCL4&5, design phase of Tuas Extension MRTs, Execution phase of Tan Kah Kee station, and Chennai-Metro MRT, India. He has authored technical publications in international journals and conferences, and has also rendered services as a peer reviewer for international journal papers including ASCE Structural Engineering.

• Design and Project Management of Building projects, Industrial projects such as Pharma plant, Blast resistant structures & Power plant, Institution structures and MRT structures. 
• Design /Supervision of Engineers for building and Industrial structures those include pre/post-tensioned elements, precast members, Pipe racks, Truss bridges, large span roof truss & canopies, etc. 
• Design/ Supervision of Engineers for building structures including precast elements & pre/post-tensioned elements, MRT structures, industrial structures, etc. 
• Resource planning, preparation of QC/QA check/documents, estimation of material quantities of various design phases (Concept phase and Detailed Engineering), preparation of Technical bidding documents such as scope of works, contract documents & specifications.
• Specialized in handling projects involving structures subjected seismic loads, blast loads, vibration caused by dynamic forces, machine vibrations and geometric/material nonlinearity behavior of structures.
• To train, motivate and mentor the staff for orientation, quality issues, technical guidance, target oriented deliveries, etc. 
• Design review / Supervision of engineers for execution of Temporary works of MRT or underground structures including SBP/CBP wall, Sheet Pile Wall, construction of deck slab, King-Posts, Strutting and ground improvement works such as Jet Grouting (JG), Wet Soil Mixing (WSM), and Hybrid method (JG and WSM), Sewer Pipe Jacking and Construction of Manhole, Fissure Grouting of Rocks below Piling, Road Pavements, etc.
