I am fervently interested in user experience design, especially in the realm of doing the actual design work. I also revel in piecing together user feedback to create innovative solutions, then presenting to clients. To demonstrate my interest in design, I helmed the newsletter of my polytechnic's course.
While taking Adobe Creative Suite courses for the first time at school, this role was thrust upon me. It pushed me to fully utilise that knowledge to create eye-catching articles. This sparked my passion for designing user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing pieces; I have since sought out similar work.
I worked at Singapore Polytechnic’s User Experience Centre, where I designed storyboards for our clients’ perusal. This highlights another one of my interests; the whole design thinking process in general. At work, I spent 1.5 years conducting deep user interviews and made sense of the data for three Singapore government agencies.
It was arduous but I didn’t seem to mind it. While schooling at SP, I single-handedly initiated a design thinking project to help staff focus better at LTA as an intern there, earning me a distinction grade and a spot on the honour roll. My course in polytechnic was also focused on design thinking; I have done four client projects with them and enjoyed every bit of it.
Spending four years immersed in this vocation cemented the fact that this is something worth pursuing.
I am also proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and also wield Canva with great success. At every academic juncture, I plant myself in design roles. Even when they were unavailable, I found other avenues. I have been a graphic designer at an eco-literacy NGO for two years. My piece, Meet the Team #1, garnered the most likes on Instagram this year. My social media marketing internship at Simple Group endowed me with corporate-friendly aesthetics, through making Instagram posts and coupons.
I am also familiar with website production. This stems from my e-portfolio and two websites for clients. Developing intuitive UI became second nature as my mentor rigorously vetted my UX e-portfolio and clients gave feedback.
