Development Intern

Infor Decision Analytics and Science (IDEAS) team is responsible for setting the AI/ML strategy at Infor. Our industry-specific Augmented Intelligence (AI) solutions suite in Asset, Forecast, Inventory, Customer, Pricing, Sales, Data and Operational Intelligence domains provides rapid and measurable value to enterprise customers.

In pursuit of advancing our AI solutions, IDEAS is currently seeking a Development Intern - Machine Learning (ML).

This internship will center on advancing IDEAS' Forecasting solution by developing modern machine-learning-driven forecasting methods capable of handling lumpy, highly irregular, and intermittent demand patterns a key challenge in real-world supply chain and inventory planning.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

• Exploring a new frontier in forecasting, beginning with a systematic evaluation of foundational time-series approaches, including classical statistical models, machine-learning methods, and intermittent-demand techniques such as Croston, SBA, and TSB.
• Investigating advanced deep-learning architectures to model lumpy demand, including LSTM-based networks and state-of-the-art transformer models purpose-built for time series forecasting (e.g., Temporal Fusion Transformer, Informer, PatchTST).
• Evaluating the potential of large language models (LLMs) to enhance forecasting pipelines whether through feature generation, metadata understanding, demand-pattern classification, or hybrid architectures that combine semantic information with historical numerical data.
• Comparing all approaches using benchmark datasets to determine how these emerging models perform relative to the current Infor TS Forecasting Engine.
• Prototyping integrations into our existing architecture and identifying opportunities to strengthen Infor's AI-driven forecasting capabilities across diverse business domains.
• Maintaining development artifacts and technical documentation in GitLab, ensuring reproducibility, traceability, and alignment with best engineering practices.

Basic Qualifications:

• Final year candidates in the Master's / Engineering program in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related quantitative discipline from an accredited university.
• Software development experience in Python and familiarity with scientific libraries commonly used in statistical analysis and machine learning e.g., pytorch, transformers library, and scikit-learn. Familiarity and basic understanding of PySpark, SQL or other data processing frameworks.
• Familiarity with software development environments such as Visual Studio Code, and version control using Git and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of data models, graphs, and relational databases. Proficiency in handling large datasets and data analysis with Tableau, Power BI, or similar BI tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of core machine learning techniques.
• Knowledge of data models and relational databases. Experience handling large datasets and data analysis with BI tools.
• Familiarity with task management with JIRA.
