Professor Imed Helal, MD, PhD, FISN, FASN, is a faculty member of the Department of Nephrology at Charles Nicolle Hospital and a Clinical Professor at the University of Tunis El Manar, Tunisia. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Monastir before undertaking his renal fellowship in the Department of Nephrology (Unit M8) at Charles Nicolle Hospital, Tunis, and subsequently completing both his nephrology specialisation and his MD at Necker Hospital in Paris, France. He further pursued a research fellowship and post-doctoral training focused on the progression factors of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) at the Department of Nephrology, University of Colorado Hospital (UCHealth), Denver, USA.
His principal clinical and research interests encompass ADPKD, chronic kidney disease, early CKD diagnosis, pregnancy in dialysis, acute kidney injury, and recovery of kidney function.
