Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Server Electrical Architect to drive electrical design excellence for our global server products during the early concept phase. In this role, your primary focus will be on developing innovative electrical engineering concepts that support new business opportunities (RFQ, RFI activities). You will collaborate closely with the Taiwan-based Architecture team and US counterparts (e.g., CTO, BU, Marketing) to shape the technical direction and strategy for potential new business.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical System Design & Technical Planning.
- Lead the development and refinement of electrical concepts for server systems, including placement study, PCB layout, power distribution, and signal integrity, in alignment with global market trends and customer requirements.
- Establish and promote design standards and technical guidelines that position our electrical solutions at the forefront of innovation.
- Utilize ECAD tools to create and optimize electrical design concepts that can be rapidly evaluated in early-stage opportunities.
- Concept Collaboration & New Business Engagement.
- Work closely with Architecture team members in Taiwan and with our US counterparts (e.g., CTO, BU, Marketing) during the concept phase to develop initial electrical design concepts.
- Support RFQ and RFI activities by providing technical expertise, developing preliminary design proposals, and articulating the value of our electrical solutions to potential customers and partners.
- Provide technical insights and recommendations that help shape strategic decisions during the early stages of new business opportunities.
- Technology Research & Innovation.
- Monitor emerging electrical engineering technologies and industry trends—such as advancements in PCB materials, voltage regulator design, and power management—and integrate relevant innovations into concept designs.
- Stay current on technical developments in CPU/GPU platforms (e.g., Intel, AMD, Nvidia, ARM) and assess their impact on electrical design, ensuring our proposals remain competitive and cutting-edge.
- Strategic Technical Leadership
- Advise senior leadership on electrical design options, technical trade-offs, and associated risks within the scope of early-stage concept development.
- Continuously refine and improve electrical design methodologies and processes to accelerate concept evaluation and decision-making in new business pursuits.
- Collaborate with architects, BU, and supply chain partners to integrate new technologies into roadmaps.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (thermal, power, and system architects) to optimize electrical solutions and ensure technical alignment during the concept phase.
- Define high-level electrical requirements and support the hardening of abstract specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive electrical proposals during POC/RFI/RFQ phases.
- Lead early-stage EE design work tailored to customer traits and needs, ensuring high-level requirements are addressed.
- Develop guidelines, playbooks, and lessons learned to improve front-end activities and enhance efficiency.
- Expertise in electrical system design with a focus on high-speed circuit design, signal integrity, and power management.
- Proficiency in ECAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout review, with a proven ability to rapidly develop and optimize design concepts.
- Solid understanding of mainstream CPU/GPU platforms (Intel, AMD, Nvidia, ARM) and their influence on electrical design
- Self-Driven: Able to independently drive tasks and learn new technologies.
- Creative Problem Solving: Assess alternative paths in design and architecture, recommending the most efficient solutions.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving: Deep-dive into technical issues with excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Engagement & Innovation: Engage with technology partners to lead Proof of Concept and stay on top of technology trends for competitive advantage.
- Leadership & Communication: Effectively communicate product architectures and negotiate options with key stakeholders. Ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver optimal results.
- Teamwork: Must have a strong working spirit and be able to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Broad Knowledge Base: Deep understanding of design specifications within the server domain, with experience in overall architecture for products and solutions.
- NRE Estimation: Capable of providing high-level NRE estimates and timelines for projects.
- Abstract Requirements: Comfortable working with abstract requirements and capable of hardening them into actionable plans
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years in electrical design for servers, data centers, or high-performance computing products, with a robust background in electrical systems, PCB layout, and power management.
- Excellent communication skills; fluency in English is required
