Tessa Chen

Hi I’m Yingyin. I am interested in the position, as advertised on company website. I’m looking to relocate to where the company is at. I was previously a radio DJ at KPSU, Portland State’s radio station and employed as a recording engineer in Portland State University’s music department. I also recently finished an internship in Paramount studios with Grammy-nominated sound engineer Ariel Chobaz.

Under

Ariel, I learned how to operate the console, patchBay, the analogs, recording setup, audio editing, mixing, mastering, recording setup, songwriting, production, management and assisting. Outside of school, I have my youtube channel. I make videos and have done a lot of editing. At school, we have film scoring assignments and requirement classes. We not only get creative on projects and produce music but also edit the video clips for films. I have been in the entertainment technology side for years. I believe that the skills and experiences I have gained at this position make me an ideal candidate for the job.

As a recording engineer, I have developed strong editing skills, as well as communication and assisting/teamwork. For example, one of my main duties was to work closely with clients, which and identify their needs. After the recording session I would spend time editing and perfecting clips to client specifications, and through this developed a passion for detail and ensuring quality.

I have also gained experience as a Radio DJ at KPSU. My experience in being a DJ has afforded me the opportunity to become familiar with management and organization. In particular, I have become heavily involved in the organization of the on air shows (before and after). After every show I was responsible for posting playlists and show notes to our website. I am always eager to learn more. I would love to bring this passion to your company.
