About the Project

You'll join a long-term engagement with a London-based client operating one of the world's largest financial market infrastructure platforms.

The product processes mission-critical financial data and requires high availability, scalability, performance, and reliability. The engineering team works closely with product stakeholders on new functionality, architectural improvements, and AI-driven capabilities that support business operations and engineering productivity.

This is a role for engineers who enjoy complex systems, distributed architectures, and solving real business problems rather than building CRUD applications.

We are looking for a Full-Stack AI Engineer who is comfortable working across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, and actively uses AI coding agents and modern AI engineering tools in everyday work.

The role has a strong frontend focus, with React as the primary frontend technology, while Java remains the core backend stack. You'll switch between frontend, backend, and infrastructure work depending on project priorities and delivery needs.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain responsive and user-friendly web interfaces using React.
• Build reusable frontend components and integrate them with backend APIs.
• Translate product and business requirements into practical UI solutions.
• Participate in frontend architecture and technical decisions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders during the research, design, and implementation phases of UI functionality.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance Java applications.
• Build scalable backend services using Spring Boot and modern cloud technologies.
• Design APIs, asynchronous workflows, and distributed system components.
• Actively participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
• Partner directly with clients, product owners, and stakeholders to analyze business requirements, estimate efforts, and identify technical risks.
• Work independently on assigned tasks, taking ownership from requirements clarification through implementation and delivery.
• Proactively identify potential improvements, risks, and opportunities beyond the immediate task scope.
• Integrate AI capabilities and AI-powered workflows across frontend and backend applications where they bring measurable value.
• standard software engineering principles and best practices.
• Ensure code quality through rigorous code reviews, pair programming, and proactive collaboration with the engineering team.
• Switch between frontend, backend, and infrastructure work depending on project priorities and delivery needs.

Requirements

• 5+ years of commercial software development experience, with strong hands-on experience across Java and React.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong commercial experience with React.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript and modern frontend development practices.
• Experience building reusable UI components and integrating frontend applications with REST APIs.
• Understanding of frontend architecture, state management, and performance considerations.
• Experience building mission-critical, data-intensive applications. Strong conceptual and architectural understanding of Event-Driven systems, SBA, CQRS, and Event Sourcing.
• Strong commercial experience with Java Core (modern Concurrency, Streams API) and Spring stack (Core, JPA, Security), along with Hibernate, SQL, and PostgreSQL.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure and containerized environments.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (S3, Aurora, Lambda, Step Functions preferred).
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; Helm is a plus.
• Strong focus on code quality and performance, with experience in testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Testcontainers), profiling tools such as VisualVM, and performance testing with JMeter.
• Daily, high-output use of AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar) is an essential part of how we work. We're looking for engineers who already rely on AI to design, implement, debug, and review software more efficiently.
• Full-stack mindset and willingness to work across frontend, backend, and infrastructure depending on project needs.
• Product ownership mindset, with strong analytical skills, the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions, and confidence working directly with clients.
• Strong sense of ownership, self-sufficiency, and proactive problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and consistently deliver high-quality results with minimal supervision.
• English - Upper-Intermediate (B2+) or higher. Ukrainian - Native.
