Lead Full Stack Software Engineer (Java)

About The Role Join SoftServe in a strategic modernization initiative for a global leader in commercial real estate services and investment. As a Java Tech Lead, you will drive the transformation of a large-scale lease management platform, guiding the migration from a legacy monolithic architecture to cloud-native microservices on Azure and AWS.

You will collaborate with distributed engineering teams while leveraging AI-first development practices to accelerate delivery, improve quality, and shape the future state of a key analytics platform.

Responsibilities

• Utilize AI-powered engineering tools such as Kiro, AWS Transform, Copilot, Cursor, and OpenSpec to prototype, scaffold, test, refactor, and improve delivery efficiency
• Lead the design and development of Java-based microservices and contract-first REST APIs, ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions
• Drive modernization initiatives by decomposing monolithic applications into microservices using the strangler-fig pattern while maintaining business continuity
• Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, product stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver business-critical capabilities and accelerate transformation outcomes
• Define and govern solution architecture, engineering standards, code reviews, and development best practices across the team
• Implement multi-tenant architectures, application security controls, JWT-based authorization mechanisms, and performance optimization strategies
• Design and optimize data services leveraging PostgreSQL (Amazon Aurora), supporting migration from legacy SQL Server environments
• Support cloud-native delivery on Azure and AWS, including Kubernetes (EKS), CI/CD pipelines, automated testing practices, and production readiness initiatives

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience with Java and at least 2 years of experience in a Tech Lead role
• Strong expertise in modern Java (17+) and the Spring ecosystem, including Spring Boot and microservices-based architectures
• Practical experience applying AI-assisted development tools (Kiro, AWS Transform, Openspec, and Copilot/Cursor ) and spec-driven engineering workflows throughout the SDLC
• Expertise in React
• Hands-on experience designing contract-first REST APIs using OpenAPI specifications
• Proven background in modernizing enterprise applications and decomposing monoliths into microservices using the strangler-fig approach
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Amazon Aurora, Redis caching, SQL Server, JWT-based security, and multi-tenant application design
• Strong knowledge of Azure and some AWS cloud services, Kubernetes (EKS), containerized environments, and CI/CD implementation
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers, conduct effective code reviews, and promote engineering excellence
• Strong communication, ownership, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration skills in a fast-paced delivery environment
