About this course
This course is for marketers, founders and coordinators who need direction before campaigns launch. You will map buyer questions, match SEO, paid, social, content and email to each stage, and diagnose poor fit. At work, you can present a channel-role matrix linked to decisions and measurable outcomes. This lesson teaches you how buyers move from unaware of a problem to loyal customer, and how each digital channel (SEO, paid ads, social, content, email) plays a specific role at each stage. You will learn to map the journey, diagnose where prospects drop off, and assign the right channel to the right job. By the end, you will produce a channel-role matrix you can defend in front of any marketing team. Effective SEO content begins by classifying every target query as informational, navigational, commercial, or transactional, then reading the live SERP to confirm which formats, depth, and competitor profiles already dominate page one. Content is then structured as topic clusters—a broad pillar page linked bidirectionally to focused cluster pages with descriptive anchor text—so that search engines recognize topical authority across the whole subject area. A paid campaign functions as a five-layer chain—audience, query or intent, creative, landing page, and conversion event—where the weakest link caps overall return on ad spend. Message match, the near-identical repetition of the ad headline on the landing page, is the highest-leverage and lowest-cost improvement available because it eliminates the cognitive friction that causes visitors to bounce. Lifecycle email organizes automated sends around the stages a subscriber passes through—from welcome and onboarding through engagement, retention, reactivation, and sunset—with each flow defined by a behavioral or time-based trigger, a timing and frequency rule, and a segment that includes explicit exclusions. Deliverability depends on documented consent, correctly configured SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records, and an aggressive sunset policy that suppresses addresses with no engagement after roughly 90 to 180 days. Attribution assigns conversion credit to marketing touchpoints using models—last-click, first-click, linear, time-decay, position-based, or data-driven—each of which answers a different strategic question, so mature teams report two or three models side by side rather than treating any single view as definitive. ROAS divides revenue by ad spend alone, while true ROI divides gross profit by all costs including agency fees and creative production, meaning a strong ROAS can still represent a loss when product margins are thin.
What you'll learn
- Map a five-stage customer journey with objectives and buyer questions at each step
- Assign a clear job to SEO, paid, social, content and email based on stage fit
- Diagnose channel-stage mismatches that waste budget or leak conversions
- Build a channel-role matrix for a real or sample business
- By the end of this module, you'll be able to classify any search query into one of four intent categories and select the content format that matches what Google already surfaces on page one for that query.
- By the end of this module, you'll be able to design a topic cluster by writing a pillar page target, five supporting cluster titles, and the internal linking rationale connecting them.
- By the end of this module, you'll be able to select funnel-stage-appropriate KPIs — organic impressions for TOFU, assisted conversions for BOFU — instead of relying on pageviews to evaluate content performance.
