About this course
This module turns a broad request such as help the class, run practice, supervise children, support the library or lead a group into a prepared session. You will identify the learner or participant, purpose, access needs, materials, space, safeguarding boundary, attendance record and evidence of completion. Before minute 5 you will build a practical session card that can be used on a first day or described in an interview. The examples fit schools, childcare, youth sport and library support without pretending that one setting has the same policy as another. This module shows how to turn a curriculum point, coaching objective, library task or childcare routine into a sequence that people can enter, practise and review. You will use modelling, guided practice, checks for understanding, differentiated routes, positive behaviour support and a clear close. The content covers lesson plan, session objective, scaffold, prompt, formative check, progression, inclusion, feedback, equipment and reflection. It does not replace a school, club or childcare policy; it gives a new assistant a practical way to prepare, observe and hand over. This module gives education support staff a practical communication and escalation framework for safeguarding, inclusion, wellbeing and family contact. You will separate observation from interpretation, respond to a disclosure without investigating, record through the setting’s route, protect privacy and coordinate with the designated lead. You will also practise inclusive language, accessible communication, boundaries with families and information sharing. The content is organisational and educational; local safeguarding, health, employment and data policies always govern the actual action. This module develops the operational side of education work: observing progress, recording attendance and participation, preparing feedback, communicating with a lead teacher or coach, and handing over to the next adult. You will distinguish formative observation from formal assessment, use evidence without labels, manage a missed session or incomplete task, and prepare a short update for a family or team under local policy. Examples cover classrooms, youth sport, library services and childcare. The focus is organisation and communication, not clinical, legal or statutory advice. The final module integrates planning, practice, safeguarding, inclusion, records and handover into a realistic first term. You will prioritise a busy morning, respond to a changed condition, prepare a fictional evidence portfolio and explain your role to an interviewer. Examples cover a teaching assistant, childcare worker, sports coach and library support worker. You will separate observed impact from a claim about educational outcomes and design a small improvement with a clear owner and check.
