Application Engineer - Software Development

Requirements

Must have:

- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience - Over 5 years of application engineering experience - Proven track record in developing and managing applications on common platforms such as Service Now, Pega, SharePoint Online, MuleSoft, and Dynamics 365 - Understanding of software development principles and methodologies, including Agile, SAFe, and CI/CD - Proficiency in programming languages and tools, including SQL, Python, JavaScript, and HTML/CSS, with familiarity in modern frameworks - Knowledge of database architecture, web technologies, and technical applications - Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - Desired: Experience with Remittance Processing, Document Management, and Check Operations applications - Desired: Knowledge of banking/financial industry trends and Navy Federals products and services

Responsibilities:

- Design, create, and enhance high-quality applications and/or COTS products utilizing various programming languages and APIs - Develop robust transaction workflows, automate quality checks, and manage production outcomes end-to-end - Execute solid backend coding (Java, SQL, APIs, Python), cloud integration engineering, and prioritize automation in delivery - Collaborate with product, operations, business, and vendors to analyze defects, production issues, and root causes, ensuring prompt resolutions - Enhance automation solutions leveraging AI to minimize manual tasks, strengthen controls, and boost processing efficiency - Ensure compliance with security, audit, and risk requirements, addressing access controls and data integrity - Oversee release planning, deployments, and change management, including validation and post-release support - Implement solutions in line with industry best practices and organization standards for coding and design - Conduct peer reviews, both giving and receiving constructive feedback to uphold high-quality standards - Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve application functionality, performance, and bug-related issues, escalating as necessary - Participate in team-driven projects and initiatives to foster collective success and continuous improvement - Provide on-call support when required
