Back End Developer

• *Overview:**

Brooksource is seeking a highly skilled Backend Python Engineer to support a lean, high-impact platform operations team at one of our Enterprise Retail (Grocery) clients. With over 150 custom-built applications running across the enterprise ecosystem, this role is critical to scaling backend development capacity, strengthening API integrations, and improving system reliability.

You’ll join a 6-person engineering team responsible for backend services and system integrations that power hundreds of internal applications across the business.

This is a hands-on development role focused on Python, REST API design, and enterprise system integrations — including Salesforce and other SaaS platforms.

• *Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python
• Build and support RESTful APIs, working with JSON payloads and standard REST principles
• Develop scalable integrations between Salesforce and other enterprise systems
• Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth 2.0, JWT, etc.)
• Build automated test suites to improve code quality and deployment confidence
• Collaborate with DevOps teams using Git-based workflows (GitLab preferred) for CI/CD and release management
• Troubleshoot and optimize production integrations and backend services
• Participate in a small, high-ownership engineering team supporting a platform that runs hundreds of internal applications
• *Required Skills:
• 3–5 years of professional Python backend development experience
• Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs
• Experience integrating enterprise SaaS platforms (Salesforce experience strongly preferred)
• Familiarity with API authentication methods (OAuth 2.0, JWT)
• Experience working with JSON and data transformation logic
• Experience building automated tests for backend services
• Git-based workflow experience (GitLab or similar)
• Experience supporting production systems in a high-availability environment
• *Preferred Qualifications:**
• Experience working directly with Salesforce integrations
• Familiarity with Apex development
• Experience scripting or automation using Python frameworks
• Experience with orchestration tools (StackStorm or similar)
• Background supporting Workday or other enterprise SaaS integrations
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
• Experience working in large enterprise or retail environments
