About The Role This position is a remote opportunity contingent upon contract award and position availability. The selected candidate will support back-end software development activities within a federal government project environment.

The role requires providing subject matter expertise in software engineering, including designing and developing back-end architectures, supporting system integrations, and developing RESTful APIs. The candidate will be involved in analyzing requirements, performing database management, and supporting testing and validation processes to ensure system operability and compliance with project standards.

Active Secret

Clearance or above is mandatory, with an active TS/SCI clearance highly preferred. The role involves participating in Agile program increment planning and activities, which may require periodic travel. This position is classified under Maximus TCS internal job profile code TCS196, T4, Band 7.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Clearance or above (TS/SCI highly preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s degree may substitute for 2 years of experience
• Minimum of 7 years of software development experience in object-oriented and scripted languages
• Experience with DevSecOps tool suites, microservices, and containers
• At least 3 years of experience with bug tracking software such as Jira
• 3 years of experience testing web-based applications
• 3 years of experience participating in software development programs or projects
• 3 years of experience performing back-end web design and development
• Experience with AWS Infrastructure, Kubernetes, and RedHat Linux
• 5 years of experience with Jenkins and GitLab
• Proficiency with at least five of the following: Postgres, RDS, Exodus, Python, Luna, Java, Docker, OpenJDK, Ansible, Packer, Maven, Kubernetes, Red Hat
• Demonstrated experience with relational databases, RESTful API development, and system integrations
• Experience in system testing, validation, and documentation to ensure compliance and operability
• Practical experience developing in cloud environments and integrating data for classified and unclassified deployments

Responsibilities

• Provide subject matter expertise to support back-end software development activities
• Design and develop back-end architectures supporting system capabilities and integrations
• Develop and modify RESTful APIs to support application functionality
• Perform database management, data modeling, and optimization tasks
• Analyze requirements, support process improvements, and contribute to specialized studies and requirements definition
• Participate in Agile program increment (PI) planning and related activities, including periodic travel as required
• Support testing, validation, and documentation efforts to verify system operability and compliance with standards
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration and deployment
• Implement DevSecOps best practices within cloud and on-premise environments
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in software development processes
