Requirements

Must have:

- 5+ years of experience in DoD IT systems engineering or cybersecurity fields.
  • Experience in a DevSecOps environment supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure.
  • Background in supporting military training systems such as JKO, JLVC, JTSE.
  • Knowledge of DoD Zero Trust architecture and relevant cybersecurity frameworks like NIST 800-207.
  • Familiarity with secure systems integration, cloud technologies, and data center operations.
  • Strong grasp of unified communications, software/web services, and global networking within defense contexts.
  • Understanding of RMF, STIGs, and DoD cybersecurity compliance standards.
  • Bachelors degree in a related field, or 3 years of experience with a Masters degree, or 0 years with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; alternatively, a High School diploma with 9 years of relevant experience.
  • IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, or equivalent) as per DoD 8570.01-M.
  • Proficient with cybersecurity and engineering tools and platforms (e.g., vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection).
  • Exceptional analytical, documentation, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Capability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting under dynamic conditions.
  • Flexibility to engage in on-call and after-hours support as necessary.

Responsibilities:

- Design, execute, and uphold secure system architectures for DoD Joint Training environments.
  • Scan and safeguard software developments throughout the DevSecOps pipeline.
  • Conduct both static and dynamic code assessments on Kubernetes containers.
  • Assess software to ensure adherence to the Application Security and Development STIG.
  • Incorporate Zero Trust security models into both legacy and modern systems.
  • Support the operations and maintenance of the DevSecOps pipeline, data center infrastructure, and global network services.
  • Work alongside cross-functional teams to devise solutions for live, virtual, and constructive training environments.
  • Lead and assist in engineering tasks related to technology enhancements, cybersecurity, systems integration, testing, and unified communications.
  • Perform vulnerability evaluations, implement mitigations, and maintain compliance with DoD cybersecurity regulations.
  • Create and manage comprehensive system documentation, including configurations, network diagrams, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate with Joint Training stakeholders to ensure system capabilities are aligned with operational training requirements.
  • Aid in the lifecycle maintenance and support of service-level IT hardware/software systems, both on-site and remotely.

Located in Suffolk, VA, this full-time role features a hybrid work environment and competitive compensation between $80,000 and $105,000 per year.
