Direct Hire trak group is partnering with a project-driven organization operating in a highly regulated environment to identify a Controller who will provide senior-level leadership across accounting and financial operations.

This role requires deep expertise in percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, a strong command of compliance and controls, and the ability to partner closely with executive leadership and operations in support of complex, long-term initiatives.

This is a strategic leadership opportunity for a Controller who brings both technical depth and business perspective, and who thrives in environments where rigor, accountability, and execution are critical.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide leadership over all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting

Oversee project-based accounting utilizing POC methodology

Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements

Establish and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and governance standards

Lead cash flow management, working capital planning, and financial strategy

Serve as primary liaison for external audits and regulatory reviews

Partner with executive and operational leaders to assess financial performance, risk, and trends

Deliver financial insight to support strategic and operational decision-making

Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting organization

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Controller-level responsibility

Required industry experience in defense, aviation, engineering, or construction

Demonstrated expertise in percentage-of-completion accounting

Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance

Proven people leadership and cross-functional partnership experience

Ability to operate effectively in regulated, project-driven environments

Preferred:

CPA or CMA

ERP system experience

Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
