Controller
Position Overview The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strong internal controls. This role partners closely with executive leadership and stakeholders to support strategic decision making, scalable growth, and value creation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the accounting function including general ledger, month end close, and financial reporting
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting packages for executive leadership and operating partners
- Maintain compliance with GAAP, debt covenants, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with leadership and PE sponsors
- Develop, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies to support audit readiness and transaction activity
- Manage external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and third party service providers
- Supervise and mentor accounting staff, promoting professional development and scalable processes
- Support cash flow management, working capital optimization, and liquidity forecasting
- Provide financial insights to support M&A activity, integrations, and exit readiness
- Lead or support ERP implementations, process improvements, and automation initiatives as the business scales
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA strongly preferred
- 10 or more years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience supporting audits, lender reporting, and PE driven reporting cadence
- Proven ability to lead teams in fast paced, deadline driven environments
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a PE backed or highly leveraged environment
- Exposure to acquisitions, integrations, or carve outs
- Public accounting background or combination of public and industry experience
- Experience supporting high growth or multi entity organizations
- Familiarity with ERP systems and reporting tools commonly used in PE backed companies
