The Corporate Controller will oversee all accounting, reporting, and financial planning functions throughout the organization, including any additional acquisitions or expansion efforts. We seek a premier Controller who can provide financial leadership and support the integration of additional companies.

  • Plan, direct, and control the company’s accounting and financial activities, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), statutory guidelines, and internal financial policies and procedures.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement major financial strategies, objectives, and policies for the company within approved budgetary plans and processes.
  • Aligns the major business functions to the profitability, productivity, and cost control goals of the business plan.
  • Act as a business partner for the business, assisting departments with analysis and data to help drive decisions.
  • Prepare timely and comprehensive reporting and analyses of historical/forecasted financial data (including but not limited to sales, profitability, working capital, cash, and other industry/company-specific financial metrics).
  • Direct preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Monitors approved budgets versus actual results monthly, providing guidance and assistance where needed to management.
  • Assist the sales/marketing and manufacturing functions in aligning financial capability of company assets and resources to the forecast for sales/shipments.
  • Assist sales function in accounts receivable maintenance, oversight over customer credit decisions, and collection of delinquent payments.
  • Assesses and helps adjust standard costing used in determining the cost of goods sold.
  • Manage inventory accounting methodology and processes to increase visibility and performance within the warehouse.
  • Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) in coordination with engineering, operations, and procurement teams to ensure accuracy in product costing, material planning, and manufacturing execution.
  • Oversee the full standard cost roll process, including annual updates, ongoing maintenance, and analysis of purchase price, labor, overhead, and usage variances to identify and resolve costing discrepancies.
  • Partner with operations and supply chain to administer cycle count programs and physical inventory counts, ensuring accuracy in inventory records and timely reconciliation of variances.
  • Develop and maintain inventory reserve methodologies for obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory, ensuring appropriate and timely financial recognition in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze and report on inventory levels, turns, and valuation across the warehouse and production environment, delivering actionable insights to operations and senior leadership.
  • Communicate the results of the business unit activities, plans for and progress towards meeting financial goals/objectives and explanations regarding key accounting initiatives.
  • Supervise any accounting department employees including providing guidance on unusual accounting scenarios, on-the-job-training for development and potential advancement, and evaluation of work performance based on established performance standards.
  • Oversee and standardize accounting, reporting, and financial controls across multiple plant locations, ensuring consistency in processes, policies, and performance metrics throughout the organization.
  • Manage prioritization and payment processes for vendor invoices.
  • Drive initiatives for automation, efficiency, and quality-improvement.
  • Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and providing all necessary information to tax advisors to aid in the federal and state income tax return filings.
  • Prepare and submit all sales and use tax filings in a timely manner as well as identifying and filing in new states when necessary.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Expert knowledge of daily accounting processes and requirements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Expertise in management principles involved in strategic planning and forecasting including people, material, and equipment resource allocation; corporate and human resource benefits; leadership and teaming; and production methods.
  • Exposure to manufacturing and knowledge of cost accounting and inventory reporting.
  • Deep understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and routing structures, including their relationship to product costing, work-in-process accounting, and manufacturing execution systems.
  • Proven experience managing standard cost systems end-to-end, including cost roll processes, multi-level variance analysis, and development of corrective action plans in collaboration with operations.
  • Familiarity with inventory valuation methodologies (e.g., standard cost, FIFO, weighted average) and the operational and financial reporting implications of each within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a private equity backed environment with parent company reporting requirements.
  • Excellent computer skills including a high degree of skill in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in managing end-to-end ERP processes and reporting.
  • Experience managing accounting and financial operations across multiple sites or business units, including the ability to implement consistent processes and controls in a decentralized environment.
  • Skill and ability to collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data; summarize findings; and develop conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
  • MBA preferred
  • 8+ years of leadership experience of an accounting or finance function
  • CPA or CMA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience
