The Opportunity
CPI is seeking an experienced Controller to lead all accounting and finance functions. This is a hands-on, high-impact role with direct visibility to executive leadership. The Controller oversees day-to-day financial operations, ensures DCAA and FAR compliance, and serves as the financial backbone of a growing government contractor.
The right candidate will bring deep govcon expertise, strong technical accounting skills, and a genuine interest in shaping financial operations at an employee-owned company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee AP/AR processing, general ledger management, and account reconciliations
- Serve as primary DCAA audit liaison; maintain internal controls and audit readiness
- Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
- Prepare and review billing rates and Forward Pricing Rate Proposals (FPRPs)
- Oversee contracts management team; support contract metrics reporting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage cash flow forecasting and provide financial insights to department heads
- Approve payroll and support payroll process oversight
- Supervise and mentor accounting and contracting staff
Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 10+ years of progressive government contract accounting experience
- Working knowledge of GAAP, DCAA/DCMA, FAR, and CAS regulations
- Experience with cost-reimbursable, T&M, and Firm-Fixed-Price contracts
- Proficiency in Unanet, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office
- Hands-on experience with government-compliant accounting systems for job costing
- U.S. citizenship required (see Security & Citizenship section below)
Preferred Qualifications: - CPA license
- DoD experience
- CMA Certification
- Familiarity with ESOP accounting and finance practices

Security & Citizenship

CPI performs work under federal contracts subject to nationality restrictions governing access to controlled information and programs, including requirements under the NISPOM and FAR.
