Senior Data Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Senior Data Engineer to design, build, and support modern data solutions that power business insights and decision-making across the organization. In this role, you will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to develop scalable data platforms, optimize data pipelines, and help drive the organization's cloud data strategy.
This position is ideal for a data professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, mentoring teammates, and leveraging modern cloud technologies to deliver high-value enterprise data solutions.
What You'll Do
- Partner with business and technical teams to gather requirements, define acceptance criteria, and deliver data solutions using Agile methodologies.
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain scalable data pipelines and integration solutions.
- Build and manage databases, data warehouses, and analytical data platforms.
- Develop ETL and ELT processes that ingest, transform, and deliver data from a variety of sources, including databases, APIs, and flat files.
- Design and implement structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data models to support reporting, analytics, and operational needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate security, monitoring, deployment, and operational practices are in place.
- Provide ongoing support for production data pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, process documentation, and operational procedures.
- Mentor and support junior data and business intelligence professionals, helping foster technical growth and best practices across the team.
What You'll Bring
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience developing software and data solutions in enterprise environments.
- 5+ years of experience working with relational databases and applying database technologies in scalable applications.
- 2+ years of experience working with cloud technologies, including Microsoft Azure services and infrastructure.
- 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure and platform solutions.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience developing and deploying cloud-based data solutions using technologies such as:
- Azure SQL
- Azure Storage
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Cosmos DB
- GitHub
- Azure DevOps
- CI/CD pipelines
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of ETL and ELT methodologies and related technologies.
- Experience with data integration and streaming solutions such as SSIS, Informatica, Kafka, Spark, MuleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of database technologies, including SQL Server, Oracle, NoSQL databases, or comparable solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Scala, or similar.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices, application monitoring, IT service management, and infrastructure support tools.
