Requirements
Must have:
- 5+ years of experience in managing Microsoft SQL Server environments - Proficient in SQL Server installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance - Expertise in optimizing query performance using indexes, execution plans, Query Store, and Profiler - Knowledge of database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery techniques - Skilled in troubleshooting issues related to locking, blocking, deadlocks, and connectivity - 3+ years of experience in Windows Server administration - Familiarity with performance tuning in databases, backups, and maintaining high availability - Understanding of virtualization technologies and enterprise storage systems - Experience with SQL Server high-availability options (Failover Clustering, Always On Availability Groups, Mirroring, Replication) - Ability to ensure database availability, integrity, and security - Knowledge of operating system security, patch management, and updates - Familiarity with Active Directory integration and basic PowerShell scripting - Experience in provisioning and managing virtual machines for database workloads - Capable of managing resources such as CPU, memory, and storage - Knowledge of enterprise storage monitoring and capacity planning - Competence in incident and problem management adhering to defined SLAs - Skilled in performance monitoring and root-cause analysis - Ability to document configurations, setups, and procedures - Expertise in managing database security, user access, and adherence to compliance best practices - Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities - Capacity to handle numerous priorities in a fast-paced support environment - Collaborative mindset to work effectively with development teams - Meticulous attention to detail and operational rigor - Bonus: Experience with hybrid cloud, Docker/Kubernetes, or Linux/monitoring tools
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and oversee SQL Server databases and clusters - Ensure database availability through systematic backups, disaster recovery plans, and failover solutions - Administer database security, access controls, patching, and lifecycle updates - Monitor system performance, diagnose issues, and address incidents within service level agreements - Provide support for Windows Server management, virtualization, and enterprise storage - Collaborate with development teams for database design and optimization of queries
