Requirements

Must have:

- Strong hands-on experience in administering Microsoft SQL Server within enterprise environments.
  • Proven expertise in SQL Server installation, configuration, patch management, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • In-depth understanding of SQL Server High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions, including Always On and Failover Clustering.
  • Experience with Data Center Exit or migration from on-premises to cloud platforms.
  • Solid knowledge of Windows Server platforms (2016/2019/2022/2025) hosting SQL Server workloads.
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure concepts pertaining to database hosting on EC2.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with application teams supporting Java and .NET workloads.
  • Knowledge of integration dependencies related to middleware such as TIBCO ESB.
  • 7+ years of database administration experience with 2-3 years of exposure to AWS.
  • Hands-on experience running SQL Server on AWS EC2, considering storage and networking aspects.
  • Understanding of AWS services such as EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and VPC.
  • Experience in supporting hybrid environments during the transition from on-premises to cloud.
  • Familiarity with automation, scripting, or Infrastructure as Code is an asset.
  • Exposure to DevOps and CI/CD pipelines affecting database deployments is preferred.
  • Experience in large, mission-critical enterprise migration programs.
  • Certifications in AWS or Microsoft SQL Server are a plus.

Responsibilities:

- Lead and manage the migration of SQL Server databases from on-premises data centers to AWS EC2.
  • Evaluate current SQL Server environments and establish migration, upgrade, and optimization strategies.
  • Execute SQL Server provisioning, configuration, and tuning on AWS infrastructure.
  • Ensure the implementation of database security measures, access controls, encryption, and backup/recovery policies.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and cloud teams to facilitate a seamless cutover with minimal downtime.
  • Assist in testing, validating, and performance benchmarking following the migration process.
  • Troubleshoot any database issues encountered during migration and ongoing operations.
  • Document database architectures, configurations, and operational procedures systematically.
