Requirements
Must have:
- Over 3 years of experience managing engineering teams, capable of hiring, developing, and retaining technical talent - Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, along with contemporary DevOps methodologies - Practical experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, or similar technologies - Familiarity with SRE principles including on-call administration, service level objectives/indicators, incident handling, and retrospectives - Exceptional communication abilities to convey technical concepts to non-technical audiences - Proven capability to navigate competing priorities and excel in a dynamic SaaS environment - Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS - Understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Pulumi - Background in Tier 3 or platform support escalation roles is preferred - Experience in scaling DevOps practices across various engineering teams is advantageous
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and nurture a team of DevOps/platform engineers - Cultivate a team atmosphere centered on accountability and ongoing enhancement - Establish clear objectives and priorities while protecting the team from distractions, ensuring stakeholders remain informed - Collaborate with engineering leadership on workforce planning, organizational structure, and cross-department initiatives - Take charge of the architecture, reliability, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure - Promote the use of infrastructure-as-code and cloud cost efficiency strategies - Direct incident response efforts, post-analysis, and corrective measures to foster learning and avoid future occurrences - Refine and enhance our site reliability engineering practices, which includes on-call rotations, alert systems, and operational handbooks - Supervise the creation and function of our CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid and secure software delivery - Work together with engineering teams to decrease build times, enhance testing coverage requirements, and minimize deployment hurdles - Establish and uphold release procedures, branching methods, and environment promotion benchmarks - Ensure adherence to SLAs during critical support escalations - Collaborate with product and engineering teams to transform recurring support challenges into platform advancements
